My goodness this has been a busy summer! We spent a lot of time together as a family and had so much fun with friends too! With the end of summer approaching and fall right around the corner, I thought I would share a few things I’m loving lately.
1. College football
The temperature is still reaching mid to high 90s here but it’s September and college football is back! It really is my favorite time of the year! I love the fall season so much and football kicks it off in the best way.
This was last year at the A&M, South Carolina game. We had so much fun that we decided it would be a great friend tradition to go to a game every year. I can’t wait for this year’s game!
2. Cold Brew Coffee
I know this is a bit random but cold brew coffee is one of my new favorite things. I love hot coffee but I have to add a little bit of creamer to it. I have been trying to cut out the creamer but I just do not enjoy black coffee. My friend, Michaela, suggested trying this cold brew as an alternative to regular coffee and it is amazing! I still drink hot coffee a lot of mornings but this is a great option, especially while it is still so hot outside! It’s unsweetened and has such a rich bold flavor but does not need anything added to it. I highly recommend it!
3. My new water system
A few months ago I realized that I was not drinking nearly enough water during the day. I took my Yeti to work every morning filled with water and some days it would still be halfway full at the end of the day. So I picked up this H20 water bottle which holds 75 ounces of water and decided to start taking it with me everyday. It helped a little but I still brought most of it home everyday. A couple of weeks ago I filled up my H20 bottle with water and my Yeti with ice and took both to work. I started pouring the water into my cup and drinking it with ice and a straw. Now I realize this is a very long description of how I drink water and you may be wondering why, but stick with me here because I’m telling you, this worked! I was able to track how much water I drank by pouring it out of the H20 water bottle into my cup and I had a visual sitting on my desk of how much I still needed to drink. For some reason, I drink more water through a straw and if it’s ice cold. By 10 am the first day, I was over halfway through the water bottle! For the last 2 weeks I have had at least 75 ounces of water a day. I feel like I have accomplished a huge goal! So if you have trouble getting your daily water intake in, give the H20 water bottle a try. I found mine at the Walmart Neighborhood Market.
4. Sweet Potato Hash
This sweet potato hash has been on repeat lately at our house. It is the perfect meal to transition into fall and makes a great week night meal or a weekend brunch. This recipe is from Shay Shull of Mix and Match Mama. We have tried several of her recipes and they never disappoint! We will be eating this dish a lot this fall and winter season.
5. Our 6th Anniversary
Will and I celebrated our 6th anniversary last week. I cannot believe we have been married for 6 years already. Sometimes it seems like it was just yesterday and other times it seems like I have loved this guy my entire life. It’s just crazy how fast time goes and how much life has changed in those 6 years. We celebrated (officially) our anniversary when we went to Hawaii earlier in the year but on Friday we had a boat date on the lake with a picnic lunch. We had the best time relaxing on the water for a few hours. As usual, I did not take any pictures of us but the day was just beautiful! I am so excited to see what God has in store for us this next year and am so thankful that I have Will by my side for all of it!
